September 20, 2022From Jockey to Private Jets: Asbury Park Press Reports on SPARROW Founder’s Unique Career Path
Aug. 17, 2022
SPARROW Executive Jets was the focus of a news article by New Jersey’s Asbury Park Press, which shared the story of how company founder Jacquie Dalton’s unusual early career as a jockey has driven her success in the world of private flying. The company is currently on track to double its revenue compared to last year thanks to a growing and loyal membership base.
The Asbury Park Press article recounts the highlights of Dalton’s unique career path. After five years and more than 200 races as a jockey, she returned to school for her GED and a degree in communications from Northwestern University before joining a private aviation company in Virginia, where she gained years of experience in aviation charter sales, marketing and operations while also starting a family.
While working in private aviation in Virginia, Dalton “immediately saw similarities to the horse racing industry,” said Asbury Park Press reporter Michael L. Diamond. “Despite the affluence surrounding them, they both depended on blue-collar workers who teamed up to get the horse or plane to the starting gate.”
Just as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged two years ago and severely impacted aviation operations worldwide, Dalton founded her brokerage company and named it SPARROW for the “small, social bird that works in a community to complete the task,” wrote Diamond.
“SPARROW’s timing is good," Diamond wrote. "Private aviation, known as business jet travel, reached a record high in 2021 with 2.3 million departures nationwide, nearly 10% higher than the pre-pandemic year of 2019, according to WingX, an aviation research company.”
